Japanese Active Titlebar Skinner

Located at: http://www.verdad.co.jp/product/barhtml/barchanger_n.htm
Uses any bitmaps, jpegs, etc of the correct size. Animates too! Freeware. The settings are in Japanese of course but it's easy enough to figure out

Some clean and powerful coding there. Noticed page spoke about 98, too lazy to reboot, installed in XP, works like a charm (even with a style applied - that's ugly but it tells something about coding). I know some people in 98 who are gonna love this ;)... awesome find!

That is one cute/sweet little app. I think a translation is begging to be done... ;)

Works great in Win2k, btw.

When you say worked like a charm "even with a style applied" are you referring to the XP visual themes? I also installed in XP but since I only use the "Windows Classic" schemes, I didn't mention it in case those XP visual themes screwed with the operation of the BarChanger.
(BTW, I hate those XP themes. You only get three anyway which isn't much of a choice compared to the twenty-two you get with classic. And with classic you have the advanced custom color choices.)

98 users might find the install failing because OS has trouble with the - Japanese - names of the textures... cheated and just copied it from XP, it works with an .ini so it ran perfectly. Bad news, it doesn't like eppie and it doesn't like it if you've messed with captionwidth etc... noticed it can do very specific animations, defined by "bitstrips" (like the default bitmap) ? Nifty.

Yes, was referring to XP's themes - ofcourse I don't run the defaults provided with the OS :p... anyway, they don't go together very well anyhow.

nice find qoa, and it works wihtout any problem on XP SP1.

the only issue i had is that i needed to "read" the agreement till the end so that "Next" would become clickable.

translation... darn!, i opened in resource hacker and it doesn't contain any dialog or menu there ...

but we can translate it "graphically" and send the author the images, maybe he will agree to translate it then (i used this method before)

will see :)

Just ran the manual trhough babelFish. Seems that aside from "skinning" the title bar, it can also set the position, font and colour of the title text, plus display a clock in your title bar.

/me adds this to his "check out" stack

I'll have to try this out with LiteStep. Would be a nice lil touch. I can't use eppie, so I don't have to worry about that. ^.^

This would be a cool little addition to eppie actually. >:)

I couldn't get eppie to work while using Bar Changer. ??
Progress on a translation?

nice job kenray 8)

glad it made it as news on Tek :)

no progress on the translation tough :(

07 Aug. 2003 - 05:42 Red
Do you guys think I should wait for a translation before I write an article on this app, or should I just go ahead and do it?

And does anybody know how an app like this would work?

10 Aug. 2003 - 02:44 spyder
Red, if you can wait for a week or so, i'm getting a realy try to translate this 8)
And i'll start bugging the author to post an English translation >:)

10 Aug. 2003 - 16:49 methodik
by the way, i thought i would mention this -

when i tried running the barchanger.exe install program, something goes wrong and i can only get it to extract two of the texture files, then it exits the program...
