Remove desktop Icons

Im using the NextStep shell and it seems to have a problem with Active Desktop.

Active Desktop hides all my icons.

This particular utility does not hide the icons and I get a temporary flash of them when this program runs at startup.

Any suggestions? Rather than throwing them in Recycle bin or deleting them from registry.

well, i can think of two tools i have used in the past.
only one seems realy reliable for this kind of use, powerpro.

you will find it at www.ppro.org

Try this:
Registry Key:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ExplorerCreate a DWORD called "NoDesktop" and give it the value 1.

By default, when Windows is installed, there are no icons on the desktop other then the Recycle Bin, which is actually in the botom left corner instead of at the top. You can right-click My Computer in the start menu (where I assume you must have it for access if you don't like it on the desktop) and uncheck "Show on Desktop". The other icons all have options in Taskbar Properties > Start Menu Tab > Customize. And, of course, the shortcuts you can just delete.

the only option is hide desktop icons using tweakui. hey, why not have a 'desktop' toolbar on your taskbar? i use this way. and i save many deadly white retraces when using 75/60 hz refreshes at my choicest resolutions.
