Transaprent Icons on the Desktop
Is there anyway to make the dektop icons transparent in XP? I don't mean the text, but the actual icons themselves?

i think you need to use icons with alphachannel support...
doing general transparency on icons (like you can do with windows in 2k and xp) i dont think is possible...

Do you mean see-thru icons showing wallpaper perhaps? Maybe like when you drag one of them? Someone wrote a thread here, in VP, regarding this topic. There's no way to do it, at this moment (I think). Maybe in a japanese customization forum out there...

you can do it by cheating, first goto
folder options > view > and tick show hidden files and folders
then right click the icons on the desktop you want transparent and change the attributes to hidden.
my computer / network / recycle bin icons is a bit more tricky but i'm sure theres a way maybe hexedit the ico file?
Or get an icon editor, copy the icons you need, then clear one out of two pixels
