remove avis

hello, does anyone know what resources to hack to remove the shell32 avis ? not as in replacing the avis themselves, but like you can remove icons from dialogs...

aside from that, if it doesn't work, what's up with the different background colors in the avis? do i have to consider them when making replacements?

thank you :)

because the dialogs with the animations themselves are not in shell32...

If I remember correctly...in win2k either the avis were in explorer.exe or sell32.dll (assuming you mean the avis for copying/moving files and so on). I simply removed the avi resources, and also removed their respective places in the dialogues that they are being used. Works with no adverse effects, and it shaved a whole bunch of space off of the shell32 size...

btw, the different background colours are the transparency keys...some use magenta (FF00FF) and some use red (FF0000), and if you were to make your own, you would have to use those colours in order for them to be transparent.

Actually Justin, I tested (with WinXP w/ no SPs or updates) removing the AVI's.. you dont even have to remove the dialog portion of it. When I removed the AVI resource, there were no effects even leaving in the dialog's call to it.

Maybe that was just my system, but it worked for me without having to go through 6,000,000 dialogs

Sorry for the late reply, but as for the AVI's, I didnt just remove 1 of them, I removed the whole AVI resource using reshacker. I just did it again using Win2003, and no effects.
