modified marlett.ttf

I've modified a copy of marlett.ttf and I want to replace this with the marlett.tff in the Fonts folder... you get the idea :-P

BUT how?!? Help please :-) [and I'm on WinXP]

I think you have to remove the hidden attribute from marlett.ttf first, by going:

Start > Run > cmd /c attrib -h %windir%\fonts\marlett.ttf

As far as I know, XP doesn't keep any backups of marlett, so you just replace and reboot. I replaced mine from the command prompt (cmd), since Fonts is a "special" folder...

This is as fair as I can get

C:\>copy d:\marlett.ttf c:\winnt\fonts
Overwrite c:\winnt\fonts\marlett.ttf? <Yes/No/All>: y
The requested operation can not be preformed on a file with a user-mapped section open.

Spdyer: The font editor I used was a 30 day demo of 'Font Creation Program' (I think it was called that). I only used it for 'bout 2 hours and then uninstalled it, sorry I can't be more help :-P

Odd, that didn't happen to me. Did you try it from the recovery console? That way there's surely no "user-mapped sections" open...

Recovery console?

There's a help file on it here (for XP only, copy/paste address):

ms-its:%windir%\Help\bootcons.chm::/recovery_install_console.htm
(notice Click written as CLick)

Install it, then you can replace files with a command prompt without Windows running.
