Active Desktop + Transparent Labels on desktop icons?
Hello, it seems that with Active Desktop enabled, the text labels on desktop icons cannot have a transparent background. Is there any way to have both active desktop enabled and have the icons have transparent backgrounds?
i don't know the answer but...
...if you use active desktop, why do you use standard icons? why don't you use simple images on your active desk as "icons"? (gif, png, whatever)

No, i'm not using active desktop for that.
On my active desktop i created an several iframes which show the contents of 2 folders on the desktop which i use for temport storage. 1 mainly for downloads and another tempory space which i use to keep work in progress stuff until i store it somewhere useful. in particular, this is useful for having multiple copies of the same file with the same name "on the desktop". I have a 3rd iframe which links to a a folder that apache has access to for temporarily giving people access to files easily.
Anyway, I'd like to keep the desktop icons as they are but ideally keep the text as it is without active dektop enabled.

There is no way that I know of, except for using tClock, though it sometimes messes up transparency.

TomB, I may have an application that may help. The site it came from is no longer there, but I still have the original zip file.
It was designed for Win9x machines to enable transparent icon text on the desktop. Its a run-once thing that I use on my desktop as I have it set to 'Details' view. The only problem is that each time the desktop refreshes (which is more often than you might think), you need to run the program again.
