MySB 1.1
Has anyone here ever heard of this cool app called MySB? If not, it is this app that enables one to change the Start button? You are probably saying, "So what? TClock2 does the same thing." You're right about that but the thing that separates MySB from TClock2 is that MySB enables one to add animated effects to their Start button. I just uploaded MySB 1.1 and am making it available to anyone who wants to download it. Get it
here. Enjoy.

This version is too but with a difference. Just download it to find out.

I look at a lot of programs but install very few. I unzipped this one...............WAREZ

So? It's not like it is virus infected or anything like that. BTW, it could also be called APPZ.

I think elf is referring to the fact that you are breaking the messageboard rules by posting links to warez. I'll defer to plastic on this, but you should at least remove the offensive link.

Okay. I'll make this "offensive" link a dead one asap. What is so offensive about it anyways?

It's all gone! BTW, if anyone who downloaded the file didn't want to apply the crack, they wouldn't have to. They are all too free to pay for the full version, if he or she so wishes.

I think that beaker has clarified the point I was trying to make.
In my visits to this site over the past several years I have came into contact with good honest people who have the knoweledge and ability to "crack" anything but who choose not to do so because they have principles.

When you mentioned that you can add animated effects, you piqued my curiosity. It reminded me of something someone asked me for a year or two ago. I guess you could say this is a project - hands needed!
Is it possible to get the start menu to open up like a chinese fan?Anyone interested? Any ideas?

grigri
To do that, you'd have to completely replace the Start Menu. Not that it's particularly difficult, but is it worth it?
"Like a chinese fan" sounds fascinating though. I can't see exactly how you mean (fans are circular, aren't they?) [and does it apply to submenus too?] but if you give me a better description I might give it a go.

Here's an animated gif that illustrates the idea.
What do you think?

That's interesting (if not a bit distracting). I never would have thought of that.

So how about it folks? Is anyone willing to help me recreate that animation I posted above? I don't know where to start.

hmm, panekiller anyone? it would be interesting to get them to open source it. (that and some others that have not been developed for some time, like say taskbar executive). it would be a nice place to start...

I tried panekiller yesterday. it doesn't look so nice but the speed and concept is great. something to be developed/improved afresh...

I really miss PaneKiller. I run XP now and ShortPopUp, but I liked PaneKiller's intelligence (once you changed settings from the default).
I agree with hobgoblin, it would be nice to see some of these go open source. What was the other app by the guy who did T.E., InContext? That had some nice features, too.

Just for the record, Panekiller still works in XP - my girl can't live without. Default graphics aren't that good, but make some new ones, apply some of effects inside and it can look really good - near to being skinnable.

in fact it can be skinned (to my definition of skinned that is, you still are contrained by the shape of windows menus. but so is shellwm). properties -> visuals -> gradients + images.
normal items are nonhighlighted ones and so on.
im wondering tho, are there so many sales that the people that made these apps can make a living out of selling them?
then there is the question about old customers and if they will feel shafted if the product they payed for are now being given away free.
beaker:
are you refering to out of context? if so then there are a lot of app that do just the same ting, adding a small submenu to the right-click menu and allowing you to modify that submenus content. i ran into a toolset called supergee some time back while looking for a systray controller (before i "spoted" the links on this page) and one of the ghosts in that pack (they have icons based on pac-man, go fig) seems to have just the same ability that oocontext have...

hobgoblin, yes that's what I meant

I first tried it out when it was called PowerDream. I liked it quite a bit, but I didn't yet know the wonders of the registry

Between the registry and ContextAware (by our very own grigri), we can probably do most/all of what ooc did. But, I'm always on the lookout for the most efficient way of accomplishing something...i'll have a look at supergee tonight.
