Litestep + icons in explorer = frustration
I've been modding my system so much lately that the only solution I was looking for had the answer within litestep... All said and done, everything looked really (damn) nice and I was satisfied, untill I started browsing my harddrives etc. That was when I remembered why I stopped liking litestep at all, I might be out of line here, but am I correct that there is no f**king way to have custom icons on folders and file-types etc in win2k (NT) while using litestep? used to work back in the day on 98 if my memory serves me well........
is there a way - if so, what is it?
or is there no way - why not?
if there's no way, the whole concept is stupid
yep, that?s a problem with the NT line, also happens in XP.
custom file type icons should be no problem though, just use the Folder Options in the explorer file manager. for most other icons IconPhile still works fine.
solution for the rest that can?t be changed: reshack shell32.
dll
(not going to explain how, we?re at VP after all

)
hehe, yeah I know shell32.
dll. but damn, that's a lot of work

baaah..... thanks anyways... fucking hate microsoft

hehehe.... naah but serioslu, my computer is acting really suspicious....
A uinque, complicated, but powerful fix is to use lsbox.
dll to create menus. You are able to use it with lsshortcuts (i think it's called) or popups. You can have whatever icons you want. Granted it only works for the first layer, but that's about all I use. I'm not sure how you do it, but it's an idea to mess with.
mmmmm..... /me loves lsbox....

most of my themes center around lsbox.
dll, used in various ways. my favorite use for it is to create animated sliding taskbars, menus, systray, etc... when combined with shortcuts, it makes for some sweet eyecandy...
anyways, offtopic.

i just had to comment outloud.

LSBox is pretty nifty. I have a hard time deciding which is my favorite module, LSBox or Label. Both are absoultely fantastic.
Back on track...
All you have to do modify your shell32.
dll is replace the folder open, folder closed, and the drive icons. Asides from that, everything can be done from your filetypes menu. It takes three minutes once you get the hang of it.
