Transparent Icon captions, without software

As this has only been done on win.98, if you successfully do it on another os, pleas post it.

Although the site says you cannot have transparent icon captions without thirdparty software, there is a way. Build an html file, and the only item onit should be the file you want for a wall paper. This can be any thing from a bmp to jpeg to an embedded flash file looping with sound. Be sure to set the image dimensions or desktop size in the html because windows will not stretch it for you. save it, and then in display properties where you choose a background, click browse and find the html file you just created. select this file and click apply. it will tell you that it needs to activate active desktop and just click OK. the desktop will know use this html file for a wallpaper, and the icon captions will be transparent.

Not a bad trick. Requires active desktop, but if it works, it works. 8)

You know what bothers me about active desktop with XP? The shadows on icons look horrible and I have the boxes around my text. Odd.
