PKTray... A new app from our friend PK. :)

This little app is really cool guys. Does a lot of different things. Here's the link first of all:

http://www.x21b.com/temp/PKTray.zip

You can HIDE or SHOW the following:

Clock
Systray Icons (2k/XP only)
Minimized apps on the taskbar (taskswitch)
Start Button
Desktop Icons (really can come in handy)
Control Winamp when it's running (Previous, Play, Pause, Stop, Next)
Control your CDPlayer when it's running (Play, Pause, and Stop)

By default, the app has an ANIMATED icon in the systray, rotating through 32 different icons. Of course, you can replace these icons, as there in there own folder, no "hacking" required, or as I've already done, you can edit the INI file and have it show just one icon of your choice. :)

Everyone should definately get this app. Pk is currently trying to make the systray icon hide function compatible with 9x/ME as well, but, as stated, only 2K/XP working with that at the moment.

Great little app, takes up NO resources whatsoever, and comes in handy all the time. I haven't cut it off since I downloaded it. :) I love hiding my taskswitch, as it's the next best thing to having no icons on the minimized task! :) LOL

Enjoy.

Yeah it is, and I think you can use up to something like 34,600 icons maximum! That's a lot of damn icons. LOL

great job PK, and good news winT :)

PKTray is really useful, winamp options, cdplayer options, icon animation on the tray, i;m really impressed by this app, and PK you're really getting better in programing(developing) .

tip:
Is there a chance that you can add an option also for close and open the cd-door, and to select the cd-drive (i have 2 cd drives)?

Yeah Spyder, it's really usefull. I love this little app. I'm enjoying hideing my minimized task. :)

I asked PK about those CD controls, and he said they were much harder to integrate into the app then the Winamp controls were, but I asked the same thing. :) LOL

WinT: Can you make a ss? How is this thing accessible?

Spyder: I know of two apps that can do that. Asked the same thing before. You could add it to spu or the start menu easily. Here is one of them: Eject.zip

Red: Wow, so many programs about cd-trays, size id from 150-500kb, and no one has thought of this simple operation the way this tiny app does....
thanks a lot, pretty simple, but very useful.
/copying it to "MUSTHAVE" folders 8)

Spyder: If your cd player can handle it, it can retract the tray too. You could write a batch file script with a marker file, and then just have one entry to click on. 8) Could even let that take in the path as an argument, pass it to the app in the batch file, and then just make shortcuts. I have a cmd line app for making shortcuts to.

Don't forget to set it to run minimised and give it a spiffy lil icon so it looks cool. :P

If you want to mess with someone's head, use autorun on a homemade cd to run this when it starts. >:)

Ever notice how I turn every trick evil? :D

Btw, LiteStep has a plugin to do this too. It can open, close, or toggle it (it uses a marker in memmory). A cool idea is to have Ctrl+Up/Down (or sometiems even scroll wheel) to control it. Would work in explorer too, but only if you set the keys from shortcuts in the start menu.

Thanks for the info Red, and the idea to use shortcut keys is really good.
Gonna try that.

/now let's use autorun on a cd i'm making for my friend... >:)

Edit: :( , it doesn't close the cd-doors, looks like my drives dont' support that option.

He! Thanks for the comments.

I updated the program, its now on version 0.2.0001 and includes the following new options: a full working cdplayer (previous, play, pause, stop, next) opening and closing the cdrom players and shutdown/reboot/logoff from windows without conformation boxes.

It can be downloaded from here:
http://www.x21b.com/temp/PKTray.zip

Make sure you read the readme.txt before you use it!

Have fun,
PK
